Doris Lou Willis , age 89, of Dundee passed away at her home Thursday, October 10, 2013 under the care of her family and hospice. She was born in the same house where she passed away and also was married there. Her parents were Merritt and Iva (Spaulding) Klopfenstein. She married Robert John Willis December 24, 1941. He passed away December 10, 1981. Doris graduated from Dundee High School in 1941. After her marriage she worked as a secretary for a lumber company and also for an attorney. After Robert’s military service in the 1940’s they came back to Dundee and took over the family farm and business, Sunny Ridge Poultry Farm and Hatchery. They purchased the farm and business from her parents in 1957. It is now a centennial farm. She had been going to the Ann Arbor Farmers Market for over 20 years. She was known as ‘The Egg Lady’. She is survived by her daughter Debra (Virgil) Vore of Deerfield; sons Douglas (Jeannine) Willis of Perrysburg, OH and Donald Willis of Ypsilanti; grandchildren Shannon (Jason) Wisner of Dundee and Rob (Jackie) Vore of Blissfield; great-grandchildren Evan Vore and Caleb Vore. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and sisters Ramona Noble and Ruth Corkins. Friends may call on Monday from 2 – 8 PM at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156). Funeral services will take place at the funeral home at 11 AM, Tuesday, October 15, 2013. Officiating will be the Rev. Jim Wiech. Interment will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Petersburg.
