Obituary of Edward C. Craft
Edward C. Craft, 77 years, a lifelong resident of Dundee, MI, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 21, 2012 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor.
Born May 9, 1934, in Dundee to the late Harley and Clara (Schroeder) Craft. He was a 1952 graduate of Dundee High School.
On July 25, 1953 at St. John Lutheran Church in Dundee Ed married his beloved wife the former Grace D. Smith. Sadly, she preceded him in death on June 27, 2003 after nearly 50 years of marriage.
Ed served his country honorably and proudly in both the US Marines and US Army and was stationed in Austria.
Ed worked for Ford Motor Company in Plymouth for 30 years retiring as a superintendent in 1994. Prior to that he was the street superintendant for the Village of Dundee. He served as a Trustee and was the President Pro Tem of The Village of Dundee.
Ed was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and was a former council chairman. He also served as a lay minister and usher. He was a 10 year member of the Dundee Volunteer Fire Department, member of the 40 et 8, Moore Lenz Wakefield Post 72 VFW and The American Legion. Ed enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling. As a member of the Dundee Channel Breakers CB Club, his handle was “Hondo”. Most of all Ed enjoyed time with family.
He is survived by four loving children: Dottie D. (Keith) Bowler of Republic, MI, David P. (Diane) Craft of Milford, MI, Dr. Dennis R. Craft of Charlotte, MI, and Dale E. (Cheryl) Craft of Dundee, MI, seven cherished grandchildren: Ed, Shellie, Tamara, David, Amanda, Robyn, and Harley, twelve treasured great grandchildren, a brother Charles E. Craft of Dundee and a sister Marilyn Reagle of Niagara Falls, NY. In addition to his parents and wife, Ed was preceded in death by a sister Donna Fouts.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-9 PM and Saturday from 12-4 and 6-9 PM in the Cover Funeral Home in Dundee. On Sunday March 25, 2012 he will lie instate at St. John Lutheran Church from 1:00 PM until funeral services celebrating his life at 2:00 PM. The Rev. Michael Konow will officiate. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
