It has now been a year since we lost Dennis. Heaven's gain was earth's loss. He is certainly missed within the AMVETS organization. People with his dedication and integrity are rare to find. He was involved with everything in our Post. I miss our visits together.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Dennis through our mutual love for the children of St. Patrick in Carleton, Michigan. Dennis was very supportive and also said "do the right thing". You will be missed, my friend.

My thoughts are full of happy memories of your family through the years. I will cherish them. May the angels welcome him to paradise - along with your mom! They are dancing together again. Love to all of you, Chris

Dennis joined AMVETS Post 1942 in Monroe several years ago. He was very active and made a difference in what he did. He was named the AMVET of the Year in our local Post and in 2012 he was selected as the AMVET of the Year for the entire State of Michigan. That means he was picked as the most outstanding member of AMVETS in Michigan from among the 10,000 members in the state. He was a past Finance Officer for our local Post and was the driving force behind our annual Memorial Day weekend tombstone display that we erect each year that honors all war dead in Monroe County history. He also chaired the Monroe County Fair Veterans Day event the last couple of years. He was active in our Post in many ways and was a Post trustee currently. He was a great person, a great Post member and a great citizen. He will be dearly missed by our Post and by me. He and I worked together on a number of projects and fundraisers and we met many times after his daily gym workouts for breakfast.

I offer my sincere sympathy to his three daughters, his grandchildren and all other family members. He was a wonderful man who made a difference. I think all of his family members can be proud of how he lived his life. I know it was difficult for him when he lost his beloved wife. He was very proud of his grandchildren and the love he had for them was evident.
