Obituary of Robert William Sanders

Robert William Sanders, Jr., age 68, of Somerset, Michigan and formerly of Milan passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Allegiance Health Hospital in Jackson after becoming ill at home. He was born in Poughkeepsie, New York November 10, 1946 the son of Robert William Sanders and Gladys Johnson. He married the former Patricia Anne Arting on April 10, 1981 at the Azalia United Methodist Church. Officiating was the Rev. Byron Coleman. Bob graduated in 1965 from the International School of Brussells, Belgium, Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa in 1966, Inventory Management School, Lowry AFB in 1969 and graduated from Washtenaw Community College in 1983 with an associate degree in data processing and business. He enjoyed building and servicing computers and owned his own business out of his home. He was formerly a manager at Arbor Hills Ace Hardware Store in Ann Arbor and had worked for Pizza Hut as an assistant manager in Des Moines. He served his country as a Sgt E-4 in the United States Air Force. He entered the service 11 March 1969 and was discharged 9 March 1973 at Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Oscoda, Michigan. He is survived by his wife Patricia and sisters Marilyn Novotny of Kennebunk, Maine and Pamela Luetjen of Des Moines, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156) In accordance with his wishes cremation has been held. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the ASPCA, the Greater Hillsdale Humane Society, 3881 Tripp Road, Osseo, MI 49266, the American Heart Association of Southeast Michigan, 40 Oak Hollow Street, Suite 220, Southfield, MI 48033 or to any charity of the donor’s choice.
