Lisa Denell (McPeek) McCarty
July 13, 1964 - April 18, 2013
Lisa Denell McCarty was born in Monroe, Michigan on July 13, 1964. She was one of eight children born from the union of the late William W. McPeek and the late Della (Sowards) McPeek. She attended Jefferson High School.
Lisa loved helping others and she enjoyed talking and sharing with others. This personality led her to be extremely successful in her chosen career path as a Direct Care Worker, Medical Coordinator, and Lead Worker. Lisa was employed by Lutheran Social Services of Michigan for more than fifteen years, prior to taking a medical retirement. She received multiple awards throughout her employment for service above and beyond from LSSM.
Lisa continually dedicated herself to her entire family, especially her grandchildren; and it was a well-known fact that whatever they wanted they got. When Lisa wasn't spending time with her family, she enjoyed playing bingo, cross stitching, needle pointing and spending time on Facebook keeping in touch and playing games. She received her spiritual nourishment by attending Al Overstreet Evangelistic Ministries.
Lisa Denell McCarty, age 48 of Monroe was called home to Heaven at 1:05am on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at her home. She had been under the care of Hospice Advantage. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by a granddaughter: Adrianna A. Jackson; and two brothers: Rickie McPeek and William C. McPeek.
To cherish her memory she leaves three children: Bruce McPeek of Monroe, Raven McPeek of Monroe and Angel McPeek of Toledo four sisters: Linda (Wayne) Marietta of Newport, Lillian (Ralph) Healey of Fountain Run, Kentucky, LeSandra (John) Goltowski of Newport, Leona (Andrew) Begin of Newport, one brother: Charlie McPeek of Newport, four grandchildren: Samuel McPeek, Asia Miller, Ethan McPeek and Roman Jackson-Iott; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 7:00pm on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will follow at 7:00pm also at Merkle's with Reverend Alfred Overstreet pastor of Al Overstreet Evangelical Ministries officiating. Cremation rites will follow.
