Obituary of Ann Barclay

Please share a memory of Ann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Ann Elinsky was born in Colver, Pennsylvania on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1923. She was one of
nine children born from the union of the late Michael Elinsky and the late Helen (Tishok) Elinsky.
Following her graduation from high school, during World War II, Ann worked in Washington D.C. for the
Department of Agriculture.
Ann married Horace “Bud” Barclay on March 13, 1948 in Warren, Ohio. Together the couple would
share in the birth of two daughters. Ann cared for the needs of her husband and children and also
worked for more than twenty years as a receptionist at the Wyandotte Hospital.
More than anything, Ann, enjoyed spending time with family. She was a trusted confidant and truly the
go to person for all her family and friends. Ann prided herself on keeping up with current events and
politics. Recently, she was honored to share some of her life experiences about World War II with the
10 th grade class at St. Mary Catholic Central. She loved spending time with her friends at the Carleton
Co-Op Apartments.
Ann Barclay, age 95, of Carleton passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018 at her home. In addition to her
parents her passing was preceded by her husband Bud, and all eight of her siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters: Cheryl (Earl) Rivard of Carleton and Karen (Lee)
Brown of Trenton; two grandchildren: Jason (Kristy) Rivard of Monroe and Martin (Stephanie) Brown of
Westchester, Ohio; and two great grandchildren: Sophia Rivard and Thomas Rivard.
