Richard Ray Trapp, 88, of Traverse City, died on Monday, February 4, 2013 at Munson Hospice House surrounded by his family.
Richard was born on February 28, 1924 in Monroe, MI, to the late John F. and Florene (Dull) Trapp. On March 23, 1946, he married Angeline Veronica Beaubien. For most of their married lives, the Trapps resided in Monroe and raised two wonderful children together.
After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army in 1947, he became a meat-cutter and worked in several grocery stores over the course of his career. In addition, he attended Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit, where he studied to become a deacon. He was ordained and served at St. Michael's Parish in Monroe. In 1983, he and Ann retired and moved to Traverse City.
As a deacon at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Richard and Ann worked extensively with the Marriage Encounter program. He especially enjoyed his time with the youth of the parish.
Richard believed in living life to its fullest. From roller-blading and kayaking, to playing his dobro and reading Tony Hillerman mysteries, Richard strove to remain active. He will be fondly remembered as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

Noel Trapp, David VanDemark, Chad (Jenny) VanDemark, and Stacie (Chris) Adams; great-grandchildren, Derek, Samantha, Amanda, and Brandon; his siblings, Myron Trapp and Alice (John) Julien, and his many other family members and friends.
