Obituary of Glen Osborn

Glen J. Osborn was born in Midland, Ohio on January 24, 1934. He was the son of the late William Cecil Osborn and the late Edna (Jandes) Osborn. Glen served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army. He married Norma Swaine and later married Dorothy "Dottie" Pruninger. Glen married the love of his life Mary Badalamenti on December 18, 1982. Glen worked as an Ironworker for more than forty years employed by Fenton Rigging retiring in 1999. He was a longtime member of the Local 44 where he was still active. Glen loved the construction industry and had spent much time recently watching the construction of the I-280 bridge. Glen had studied Judo in Japan for one and a half years and over the years earned a tenth degree black belt. He was also a brown belt in Karate, and Glen operated a Judo and Karate Club for many years. Glen was an animal lover and especially of dogs. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, bird watching, fishing, and boating. Glen J. Osborn age 77 of Gibsonburg formerly of Monroe passed away at 5:47pm, Monday, November 7, 2011 at Bay Park Community Hospital in Oregon, Ohio. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by his beloved wife: Mary; two stepsons: James Bailey and William "Billy" Swingle; one brother and sister-in-law: Gene and Betty Osborn. To cherish his memory he leaves four children: Lisa (Bob) Greimann of Blanchester, Ohio, Donna (Rod) Byer of Gibsonburg, Ohio, Adam Osborn of Indiana, and Hallie Carroll of Fayetteville, Ohio; one stepdaughter: Debbie Mayes (Johnnie Mayes) of Newport; one sister: Marica (Jerry) Quillen of Lebanon, Ohio; and one brother: Paul (Debbie) Osborn of Cincinnati, Ohio; eleven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Friends may gather from 4:00pm until 8:00pm, Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185 where a Celebration of His Life will take place on Friday, November 11, 2011. The Rev. Roy Southerland pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church will officiate and procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers are suggested to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the local Humane Society.
