Obituary of Michael Scott Crum

Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Michael Scott Crum was born on October 10, 1947 in Ashland, Kentucky. He was the oldest of three boys born from the union of his parents: the late Delbert Crum and the late Opal Pauline (Holbrook) Crum. He attended school in River Rouge and graduated with the class of 1965. Michael enlisted in the United States Army in 1967 and proudly served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1969.

Michael met and married the love of his life, Gail Mahalak on January 15, 1966. It was from this union that came the birth of their two beautiful daughters Bridget and Kristin. To support his family, Michael worked in Car Sales and Management for over forty years. Michael was baptized into the Catholic faith in 1991 and was a parishioner at St. Mary, Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish in Rockwood.

His greatest passion was baseball. He never missed watching a Tiger’s game and coached softball in the city of Southgate for almost forty years. He also enjoyed attending car shows to see the classic cars.

Michael Scott Crum, age 70, of South Rockwood, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Beaumont Hospital in Trenton. His passing is preceded by his brother: Rick Crum and his parents.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his wife of 52 years: Gail Crum; his two daughters: Bridget (John) Prohaska and Kristin (Dan) Krupa; his brother: George Crum; his seventeen grandchildren: Ryan (Becky), Lauren, Steven, Rachel (Ryan), Nathan, Emily, Joseph, Margaret, Sarah, Matthew, David, Anna Marie, William, Monica, Lillian, Benjamin and Jacob; two great grandchildren: Little Juju and Aubrey; and many other extended family members and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, (734)384-5185. A Catholic Memorial Mass is being planned by the family and will take place in the coming days.
