Obituary of Grace Anna Szabo

Please share a memory of Grace to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Grace Anna Plichta was born on December 5, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan. She was one of 9 children born from the union of her parents: the late Fred Plichta and the late Emma (Saremba) Plichta. Grace met and married the love of her life, Ernest Szabo on July 17, 1958. From this union came the birth of their son: Christopher. Grace supported her family by being a stay at home mom where she made sure her family was well taken care of.

Grace received her spiritual nourishment by attending St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Monroe and always stayed true to her belief and love for God. She enjoyed cooking, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, watching her favorite television shows, loving up her dog, Benji and other fur babies and collecting hand blown glass keepsakes. She loved to crochet and was known to be very well when it came to arts and crafts.

Above anything, she loved her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching them grow up. She especially liked listening to her grandson play her favorite tunes on his trombone including the theme from Star Wars and Jaws.

Grace had a loud, outgoing and funny personality who stayed loyal and always had your back. Her loving presence will be missed by all who knew her.

Grace Anna Szabo, age 86, of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Beaumont Hospital in Taylor. Her passing is preceded by her husband of 33 years: Ernest A. Szabo, many siblings, and her parents.

To cherish her memory, she leaves her only son: Christopher (Janel) Szabo; her grandchildren: Alexander Johnathan Szabo, Linda Anna Szabo and Christopher Alexander Szabo II; her brothers: Robert Plichta and Fred Plichta and many other extended family members and friends.
