Richard White 79 of Temperance, Michigan passed away at his home on Sunday, March 31, 2013. Dick was a devoted father and grandfather and enjoyed playing Euchre with his friends on Friday nights. He was passionate about his Detroit Tigers and Michigan Wolverines and enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling. He graduated from Frewsburg Central in Frewsburg, New York and was treasurer of his Senior Class. He was a three year starter on the basketball and baseball teams. Dick enjoyed coaching his son Ken's little league team at Keyser Elementary and was one of the founders of the Keyser Booster Club.
He was born on October 29, 1933 in Jamestown, New York to Elva and Maynard White. He worked as a salesman for Sun Oil Company and Pitney Bowes. Dick was honorably discharged after having served in the Korean War from 1953-1955, 3rd Army, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was a member of the Arthur Daly American Legion and a Past Commander.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Elva and Maynard, and his sister Barbara. Left to cherish his memories are his daughter Sandy, son Ken (Laurie), sister Sue Lamb of Jamestown, NY, grandchildren Alyssa, Greg, Rebecca White, and 4 nieces.
Cremation has taken place. Friends may gather from 4:00pm until a memorial service at 7:00pm on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 9156 Summit Street (734) 848-5185.
