Arthur Frederick Eckhardt was born on April 4, 1929 in Lakewood, Ohio. He was one of two children born from the union of the late Arthur Eckhardt and the late Margariette (Finn) Eckhardt. As a young man, he enlisted in the Army, where he served his country honorably as a Radio Operator at the end of World War II.

Arthur Fredrick Eckhardt, age 88 of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away at 8:45am on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Genesis Healthcare. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by his companion of thirty years: Irene Madden.

To cherish his memory, Arthur leaves a brother: Richard Eckhardt and friend: Robert Madden of Toledo.

Friends may gather from 9:00am to 11:00am on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Merkle Funeral Service, 9156 Summit Street Erie, Michigan (734)848-5185. A brief prayer service will follow at 11:00am also at Merkle’s with Pastor Lewis Carlson of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Procession will follow to Toledo Memorial Park in Sylvania where he will be laid to rest.
