James Edward Nagel was born in Monroe, Michigan on May 12, 1938. He was one of two boys born from the union of the late Edwin Charles Nagel and the late Ethel (Stark) Nagel. James married Carol Manwell, on October 21, 1961 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Erie.
For many years, James supported his family as a Metal Pattern Maker retiring from Ford Motor Company. James was a hard worker, but when he wasn't working he enjoyed, golfing, and gardening on the weekends. He was an avid hunter and a lifetime member of the Rod and Gun Club of Monroe. He adored his family and took delight in watching his grandchildren grow. He was a wonderful father and grandfather.
He prided himself on keeping up on current events, world news, and politics. He could often be found catching up by watching C-SPAN.
James Edward Nagel, age 74 of Erie passed away at 4:12pm on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at home. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by a sister: Judy Nagel.
To cherish his memory he leaves his beloved wife: Carol Nagel of Erie; one daughter: Karen (Brian) Koonsvitsky of Chicago, Illinois; one brother: Dan (Barbara) Nagel of LaSalle, Michigan; and two grandchildren: Adam and Nora Koonsvitsky of Chicago.
Friends may gather from 3:00pm until 7:00pm on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Bennett Funeral Service, 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will follow at 7:00pm also at Bennett's.
