Obituary of Norman Freimark

Norman Lucien Freimark was born in LaSalle on June 2, 1923. He was the son of the late William and Helen (Miller) Freimark. Norman honorably served in the US Army from 1942-1946 during WWII. He drove Colonel Molotov from France to Belgium to inspect the POW Camp where his men were being held captive.
Norman married Eileen Dunnam, on June 29, 1946. He supported his family for over forty-three years as a Paper Handler for Meade Containers in Toledo, retiring in 1985.
Norman and Eileen loved spending time with their grandchildren and nephews. He shared his love of fishing with them, and liked to spoil with ice cream and french fries. Norman and Eileen loved traveling and camping, spending twenty years wintering in Bowling Green, Florida.
Norman was a lifetime member of the Erie VFW and a member of American Legion Post 0002 of Wachula, Florida. He was known for his beautiful smile and great sense of humor. Norman was an avid Tiger fan and enjoyed playing cards.
Norman age 90 of LaSalle, passed in his sleep on August 16, 2013 at the Lutheran Home where he recently moved after ninety years of wonderful health. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by sisters: Helen Romine and Marilyn Huber; a step-granddaughter: Cynthia Shock; and a step-grandson: Michael Shock.
To cherish his memory, Norman leaves a loving wife of sixty-seven years: Eileen Freimark; a daughter: Dawn (Alvin) Shock of Temperance; a grandson: Norman (Heather) Fortner of Lambertville; two great-granddaughters: Autumn and Lindsey Fortner of Lambertville; three step grandchildren: Sandra Shock of Naples, Florida, Thomas (Valerie) Shock of West Branch, and Rose (Dwayne) Wertz of Byron; and many step-great grandchildren; a brother: Earl (Bernice) Freimark of Monroe; three sisters: Charlotte Plummer of Monroe, Katherine (Thomas) Woodrum of Gallipolis, Ohio, and Jeanette Belair of Homosassa, Florida; and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Friends may gather from 1:00-4:00pm on Monday, August 19, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 9156 Summit Street, Erie (734) 848-5185. Military honors under the auspices of Erie VFW Post 3925 will take place at 4:00pm followed by a Celebration of His Life with Pastor John Schinkel officiating. Cremation will follow.
