Obituary of David Williams

David "Dewey" Edward Williams was born in Monroe on December 24, 1958. He was the son of David Eugene Williams and Vera Jane (Myers) Williams. David graduated Jefferson High School in 1977 and attended RETS College in Toledo.
For more than seventeen years David was employed as an Electronic Engineer for Sensors Incorporated in Saline. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed gardening and was well known for his ability to plow a straight line. David was an avid sports fan, he could often be found watching a game, and he had a passion for all of the Michigan teams. He liked to visit Raceway Park in Toledo to take in the horse racing.
He adored his nieces and nephews, and referred to them as the joy of his life. Davey valued spending time with his family. He enjoyed the outdoors. Hunting small game and fishing were favorite pastimes, and he even enjoyed cleaning the fish that everyone else caught. He had a love for the Lord and worshipped at Kentucky Park Missionary Baptist Church. Davey had been a member of Union Street Missionary Baptist. As a young man he was a Demolay. Dewey was formerly a Mason and Eastern Star; he and his mother served as Worthy Patron and Worthy Matron, together.
David, age 54 of Monroe went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 25, 2013 at home. In addition to his father his passing was preceded by his grandparents: Reverend Joseph and Beula (Dobbs) Williams and Reverend Henry and Maggie (Dossett) Myers.
To cherish his memory, Davey leaves his beloved mother: Vera Williams of Monroe; one brother: Paul (Vickie) Williams of Monroe; four sisters: Rebecca McCarty of Monroe, Esther (John) Ball of Monroe, Rachel (Robert) James of Newport, and Martha (Rick) Pillarelli of Monroe; numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
Friends may gather from 2:00-8:00pm, Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will be held at 11:00am on Monday, March 4, 2013 also at Merkle's. The Reverend Stevie Longsworth of Kentucky Park Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park.
