Obituary of Kenneth Diaz
Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kenneth Charles Diaz, 63, of Carleton, passed at home surrounded by his loving family under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice. He had been in poor health for seven years and in serious health since October.
Born January 24, 1950 in Monroe, he was the son of Angelo and Gloria (Beaudry) Diaz. He graduated in 1968 from Monroe High School and lifelong resident of Carleton. He married Cynthia K. Jennings at St Patrick's Catholic Church, February 7, 1969. From this union came four children: Timothy (Peggy) Diaz, Tammy (Carl) Williams, James Diaz, and Carlos (Tanya) Diaz. A proud grandfather to Kyle, Karl (Gabrielle), Kody, Kayce, Cassidy, and Riley, and great-grandfather to Caden.
Kenneth was industrious and strong willed. He never shied away from hard work and expected the same from others. Ken was an avid hunter and camper. If it was outside, you would find him there. He enjoyed snowmobiling and motorcycling. He was a member and strong supporter of ABATE of Michigan, Region 18.
Kenneth grew up working the family farm. He served from 1967 to 1972 in the United States Navy obtaining the rank of AME2 (E-5). He was a member of the American Legion Post 66 of Carleton. After serving his country, he returned to Michigan finding employment as a truck driver, while continuing to work the family greenhouse business. Kenneth's ingenuity and stubbornness was instrumental in building the business.
He is survived by siblings, Joseph (Rose) Diaz, Michael (Margarett) Diaz, John (Judy) Diaz, Patricia (Eugene) Mitchey, Anthony (Linda) Diaz, Thomas Diaz, and Dolores (William) Kowalski. He has 27 nieces and nephews and 33 great nieces and nephews.
