Betty Jane Cheap was born on April 21, 1924 in Jackson, Ohio. She is one of ten children born from the union of the late Frank Cheap and the late Laura (Burt) Cheap.
Betty was a lifelong resident of Monroe. She married the late Arthur B. White in 1942. From this union came the birth of two sons. Betty worked many different and challenging jobs from babysitting from her home to building gyroscopes for WWII bombers. The majority of her time was caring for her family. She always ensured they were well taken care of. Betty loved being outdoors watching the birds and nature. She enjoyed her music, drawing, and was a huge Elvis Presley fan.
Betty Jane White, age 93 of Monroe passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. In addition to her beloved husband, her passing is preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and sisters.
To cherish her memory, Betty leaves two sons: Mark White of Korea and Frank White of Monroe; her grandchildren: Frank White Jr of Florida, Carrie Pendergast (White) of Tennessee, and Hye Ran Cho (White) of Korea and family friend: Janice Asbury of Monroe.
Friends may gather on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 from 11:00pm until a Celebration of Her Life at 2:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service; 14567 South Dixie Highway (734)241-7070. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial.
