LauraBelle (Folk) Navarre
August 28, 1934 - November 30, 2012
LauraBelle Folk was born in Erie, Michigan on August 28, 1934. She was one of ten children born from the union of the late Alva Folk and the late Anna (Mominee) Folk. She attended school at Sanfreall in Erie.
LauraBelle was employed as a waitress serving others at the Dagwood Diner. In May of 1975, LauraBelle married Earl Navarre in Lucas County, Ohio. Finally, in 1991 after more than forty years she retired from the restaurant.
LauraBelle loved to socialize with others, and she never met a stranger. She seemed to draw a crowd wherever she went, and she truly cherished the time that she was able to spend with her family and friends. LauraBelle enjoyed playing cards. She was well known for her "addiction" to collecting ink pens and coke memorabilia. LauraBelle, had a great sense of humor, an infectious laugh, a heart of gold; and was a very caring and giving individual.
LauraBelle Navarre age 78 a lifelong Erie resident passed away at 6:26am, Friday, November 30, 2012 at The Toledo Hospital. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her beloved husband: Earl Navarre; four brothers: George, Noah, Junior, and Ernie Folk; three sisters: Lottie Howard, Grace Hyde, and Joann Etue; a son-in-law: John Tyler; and two grandsons: Jeremy Isaac Tyler and John Tyler.
To cherish her memory she leaves a daughter: Susan Tyler and her significant other: Dennis Elliott of Erie; a son: Dale (Deanna) Folk of Erie; two sisters: Betty (John) Holtz of Temperance and Peteo (Richard) Winkelman of LaSalle; two grandchildren: Danielle Tyler of Toledo and Emily Folk of Erie; two great grandchildren: Samuel Tyler and Damyra Tyler.
Friends may gather from 1:00pm until 8:00pm, Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Merkle Funeral Service, 9156 Summit Street in Erie (734) 848-5185. Friends may also gather from 9:00am until 10:30am on Monday, December 3, 2012. A Celebration of Her Life will follow at 10:30am also at Merkle's. Procession will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery in Erie for burial.
