Obituary of Katherine Ann Brewer-Cikalo

Please share a memory of Katherine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Katherine Ann Malek was born on March 22, 1954 in Fort Knox, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Don and Rita Warden. Katherine married Lawrence Andrew Cikalo on May 24, 2002 in Lucas County, Ohio. From this union became a blended family of five children. During their fifteen years of marriage they loved spending time together. She loved riding on the back of the Harley, being outdoors, attending concerts including: Don White and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and spending time with her beloved dog, Nico.

For twenty years, Katherine worked at the Mazda Plant in Flat Rock as a material handler. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching fireworks and went to every show she could, as well as researching any Pow Wow Native American gathering to see if she could attend. Katherine loved to go camping and did so all throughout Michigan (especially during Halloween), traveling as far as Mackinaw to enjoy the outdoors. Katherine was explained to be an avid reader and loved to have her face in a book, until she started having a tough time focusing and resorted to watching movies. She loved the holidays and enjoyed cooking for her family. Katherine’s famous dishes were wild rice soup, chicken and dumplings, and her killer lasagna that had more cheese than one person could bare. She learned most of her cooking from her grandmother and mother in-law.
