Orlando Bernard Porter was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 13, 1963. He was the son born from the union of the late Jake Porter and the late Reaner (Williams) Porter. Orlando moved with his family from Detroit to Flat Rock in 1974. He was a graduate of Flat Rock High School.
Orlando had completed the Jobs Corp program. Recently, he had been attending college classes majoring in theatre. Orlando loved the outdoors, but more than anything the company of others. He loved children, he was outgoing and friendly, and enjoyed socializing with others. Orlando enjoyed his family especially the company of his niece: Katrina and friends. Orlando loved listening to music and playing the drums. He was a huge fan of the artist Prince and loved to do karaoke. Orlando also adored Kelly's daughter: Jayden.
He often talked about God, because he loved his Lord. Orlando enjoyed attending church when he was able, and had often visited Monroe Missionary Baptist Church.
Orlando Bernard Porter age 49 of Monroe passed away at 10:58pm, Sunday, October 7, 2012 at Mercy Memorial Hospital from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by a brother: Evelette Porter, and two sisters: Adrienne V. Porter and Meredith M. Stamps.
To cherish his memory he leaves five siblings: Gloria Jean Jones, James Walker, Jimmy Lee Porter, Andrell Porter and his partner Sylvia Wilson-Porter, and Cynthia A. Clayton; his auntie: Estherlean Johnson; a host of nieces and nephews including: Katrina Monique (Lester Lee) (Porter) Allen whom he had a special loving relationship with; his significant other: Kelly Lynch of LaSalle; one daughter: Reaner "Poogie" Porter; Kelly's children: Jayden Marshall, Wesley Lynch, Lakeisha Gipson; and a godson: Spencer Lynch.
Friends may gather from 10:00am until 11:00am on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will follow at 11:00am. Reverend Paul Futch pastor of True Love Baptist Church will officiate. Cremation will follow through Southern Michigan Services in Livonia, Michigan.
