Bert Randall Heath
October 17, 1958 - October 27, 2011
Bert Randall Heath was born in Monroe on October 17, 1958. He was the son of Norman Elwood Heath and Audrey (Hayes) Heath. Bert was a 1976 graduate of Monroe High and later took courses through Monroe County Community College.
He married Connie England in 1978. Bert served his country proudly and honorably as a member of the United States Army from September 15, 1980 until September 14, 1983. He loved his military service and had spent time as a Patient Care Specialist. Bert married Gail Porter in 1993.
Bert was very mechanical and skilled with his hands. He had the ability to fix anything. For many years Bert worked as an Air Compressor Mechanic. Bert was so good at his work that he even traveled the world to perform repairs. He was self-employed for a period but also served several companies including: Stovall's, Patton's and Best-Aire.
Bert loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, and playing the guitar. He was an excellent pool player and had an attic full of awards and trophies from many leagues. Bert was a proud and loving father. He also loved animals, especially dogs. Recently, Bert had been attending the Monroe Missionary Baptist Church.
Bert Randall Heath age 53 of Monroe passed away at 10:50am, Thursday, October 27, 2011 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. His passing was preceded by a sister: Norma Evans.
Bert leaves to cherish his memory sons: Phillip (Katie) Heath of Washington D.C. and Bradley Heath of Marrietta, GA; daughters: Amber (Dustin) Parker of Savanna, GA and Miranda (Jason) Allen of Atlanta, GA; his wife: Gail Heath of Lawrenceville, GA; his parents: Audrey Heath of Alabama and Norman Heath of Monroe; brother: Brent Heath of Bedford; sister: Holly Loope of Carleton; and grandchildren: Anslie Heath and Gavin Parker.
Friends may gather from 1:00pm until 2:00pm on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, 14260 South Dixie Highway. Veteran's services will take place at 2:00pm under the auspices of Monroe VFW Post 1138. A Celebration of His Life will follow with the Rev. Kenneth Spain associate pastor of the church officiating. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 is entrusted with his arrangements.
