Yvonne Joan (Kinsley) Shertzer
June 28, 1923 - September 10, 2012
Yvonne Joan Kinsley was born in Highland Park, Michigan on June 28, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Kinsley and the late Effie (Adams) Kinsley. She was a 1940 graduate of Highland Park High School.
Yvonne married Maurice Shertzer on March 26, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan. From this union came the birth of four daughters. The young family moved to the Detroit Beach area in 1950. Yvonne was employed for eight years as an operator for the Bell Telephone Company. Later, she worked for Monroe County Probate Court as a microfilmist for nineteen years retiring in February of 1993.
Yvonne was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. She loved music including many different genres and Broadway show tunes, and Yvonne loved to sing. She enjoyed reading self-help, informational, political, and conspiracy material; she stated that she; "knew who killed Marilyn Monroe". Yvonne always prided herself on being up to date on current events. She had a deep love for animals.
Yvonne Joan Shertzer age 89 of Monroe passed into the arms of her savior on Monday afternoon, September 10, 2012. Her loving family was at her side and she was under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her beloved husband: Maurice on May 11, 1972, a sister: Lotrell Miller; and a brother: Thomas Kinsley.
To cherish her memory she leaves four daughters: Valerie (Robert) Johnson of Carleton, Chere (Mark) Perhatch of Monroe, Kim (Erik) Miller of Hermansville, Michigan, and Kay (Ric) Gelvin of Newport; a brother: Carl (Joanne) Kinsley of Brownstown; a sister-in-law: Carol Kinsley of Jupiter, Florida; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may gather from 12:00pm until 8:00pm on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. She will lie in state from 10:00am until 11:00am, Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, 3589 Heiss Road. Pastor Stan Aubuchon will officiate. A luncheon will follow at the church Fellowship Hall and private burial will take place at Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock.
