Obituary of Irvin Disher

Irvin Robert Disher was born in Swanton, Ohio on October 16, 1927. He was the son of the late Frank Robert Disher and the late Hazel Mae (Parker) Disher. Irvin served his country honorably during World War II and Korea as a member of the United States Navy and Naval Reserves.
He married the former Nancie Lou Miller on November 2, 1946, and from this union came the birth of three children. Irvin served his community proudly as a member of the Springfield Township Volunteer Fire Department in Ohio for five years.
For ten years, Irvin worked at the New York Central Railroad and for more than twenty years as a Journeyman Hot Headerman for Hi-Shear Corporation in Torrance, California.
Since he was a teenager Irvin had a love affair with motorcycle riding. He loved the outdoors and hunting, fishing, and scuba diving. He had studied Kung-Fu. Irvin enjoyed working his HAM radio and his call letters were WB6-AXI. He was a family man first, and he loved taking Nancie on dates and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Irvin Robert Disher age 84 of Monroe passed away at 1:05am, Sunday, September 2, 2012 at his home. He was under the care of Heartland Hospice. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by his beloved wife, Nancie on July 20, 2009, and his daughter, April on September 15, 2011.
To cherish his memory he leaves a son: Steve Disher of LaSalle; a daughter: Kathy Disher of Monroe; one son-in-law: Gerald Deering of Monroe; six grandchildren: Dennis I. Razny of Monroe, Tammy Sue Razny of Roanoke, Virginia, Debby D. Carlton (Russ Bender) of Riverside, California, Steve A. Disher Jr., Jason R.R. Disher, and Jeremy Disher all of LaSalle; twelve grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Friends may gather from 12:00pm until 4:00pm, Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the LaSalle Township Fire Station, 4120 LaPlaisance Road in LaSalle. The gathering time will conclude with members of Monroe VFW Post 1138 providing military honors at 4:00pm. Inurnment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 was entrusted with his arrangements.
