Obituary of Edith McMullin

Edith Marie Buskirk was born in Inez, Kentucky on December 23, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Leon "Jim" Buskirk and the late Della M. Cumbo.
She married Richard Blakeman and later married the love of her life Edward McMullin in Toledo.
Edith was a devout Christian and had attended several local churches throughout the years including Kentucky Park Missionary Baptist and most recently Evergreen Acres Missionary Baptist Church. Actively worshipping was important to Edith and her husband, Edward as they took their family to service several times each week.
She was the co-owner withEdward of "Busy Bee" Restaurant on the Eastside of Monroe. For many years, Edith worked as a janitor, employed by Beach Nursing Home and the Lutheran Home, and then retiring from the Monroe County Youth Center in 1982 after more than ten years of service.
Edith and Edward had also enjoyed camping for many years at what is now known as Wilderness Retreat.
Edith Marie McMullin age 89 of Monroe passed away at 10:55am, Saturday, August 11, 2012 at home. She had been under the care of Grace Hospice. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her husband: Edward; two children: Barbara Sue Downs and Robert Joseph McMullin; three grandchildren: Annie Blakeman, Monica Schloroff, and Darrell Kastle; a son-in-law: Dale Kastle; and a brother: Joseph Patrick.
To cherish her memory she leaves eleven children: Richard Frey Blakeman, Charles Edward Blakeman, Phyllis Jean Kastle of Riga, Mary Lou (Jim) Ziegler of The Villages, Florida, Delores Ann (Thomas) Balk of Monroe, James (Pat) McMullin of Monroe, Thomas Ray McMullin of Monroe, Larry Lee McMullin of Monroe, David Allyn McMullin of Monroe, Kathy Marie (Pete) Robidoux of Monroe, and William Hobert McMullin of Monroe; son-in-law: Paul Downs of Monroe; daughter-in-law: Mary McMullin of Monroe; twenty-nine grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
Friends may gather from 12:00pm until 7:00pm, Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will follow at 7:00pm also at Merkle's with the Rev. Von Loop officiating. Private burial will take place at Woodland on Wednesday, August 15.
