Mary Dolores Kush was born in Twin Rocks, Pennsylvania on November 25, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Julia (Epoch) Kush. Dolores attended Big Ben Elementary School moving to Monroe at the age of eleven graduating in 1950 from Monroe High School.
She married the love of her life, Ronald E. Haynes on October 20, 1951. Dolores worked for several different employers throughout the years, but more than anything was a valued homemaker and mother. She was a very talented artist and she enjoyed drawing cartoon characters.
Dolores was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed conversation with others, and had volunteered many hours at the House of Restoration ministry on the Eastside.
She enjoyed listening to music and she was blessed with the ability to play the guitar. Dolores was an avid golfer and participated in many mixed bowling leagues with her husband Ron. She loved to travel and had spent more than twenty years wintering in Florida with Ron. Her grandchildren were her life and it could be said that they consumed her.
Mary Dolores Haynes 79 of Monroe went home to Heaven on Friday, July 27, 2012. She was surrounded by loving family at her passing. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by husband, Ronald on June 11, 2008; and four siblings: Rudolph "Red" Shorter, Julia Robinson, Margaret "Maggie" Robinson, and Ethel Boylan.
To cherish her memory she leaves two sons: R. David (Sharon) Haynes and Thomas (Sheila) Haynes; seven grandchildren: Angela (Keith) Zukowski, Rachel (John) Sweet, Stacey (Eric) Burger, David (Rachelle) Haynes, Steven (Charity) Anthony, Michael (Cathy) Anthony, and Thomas (Jeanette) Haynes II; twenty-five great grandchildren, eleven great-great grandchildren with two on the way; two beloved aunts: Margaret Rostash and Laura "Grace" Kush; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may gather from 12:00pm until 8:00pm, Monday, July 30, 2012 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 with a scripture service at 6:00pm. She will lie in state Tuesday, July 31, 2012 from 9:00am until Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church,924 East Second Street. Procession will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery.
