Obituary of William Eugene Littlepage

William Eugene Littlepage was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 17, 1926. He was the son of Heardy Littlepage and Ethel May (Lotz) Littlepage. William married the love of his life, Shirley Turnbull, on August 12, 1950 at St. Gregory Parish in Detroit. The couple would celebrate the birth of two children: Kathi and William. William was a wonderful provider and an excellent husband and father. He began a career at Ford Motor Company in 1959. William loved automobiles, both new and antique, and his position of being an auto mechanic was very pleasing. He spent twenty-nine years at the Ford World Headquarters. Every day his responsibilities included working on the Ford Family Cars and Executive Cars. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 600. William and Shirley moved from Farmington Hills to Monroe in 1986, and then he retired in 1989. They became members of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. William will always be remembered for his willingness to help others. He was a very kind, gentle, and loving man. He loved deeply and was deeply loved by all those privileged to know him. William Eugene Littlepage age 90 of Monroe passed away at 4:06pm on Friday, April 14, 2017 at his home. He had been under the care of ProMedica Monroe Hospice. His passing was preceded by both of his parents; a half-brother: Wilford R. Littlepage; and a half-sister: Mary Littlepage To cherish his memory he leaves a beloved wife: Shirley M. Littlepage of Monroe; a daughter: Kathi (Thomas) Sturdy of Cincinnati, Ohio; a son: William (Cindy) Littlepage; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Rosary Service will take place at 7:00pm led by Mr. Mark Tibai. William will lie in state on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 9:00am until the Mass of the Resurrection at 9:30am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 511 South Monroe Street with Father James Smalarz officiating. Procession will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery for entombment. Memorial donations are suggested to Gabby’s Ladder.
