Ava Marie Gerber was born on May 11, 1938 in Middlesboro, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Herman Heywood Lassiter and Pearlie (Brooks) Lassiter. Pearlie later remarried to Joseph Gerber of Monroe, MI. Joseph adopted Ava and raised her with Pearlie at his side till she had grown. Ava attended elementary, middle and high school in Monroe.. Ava married the love of her life, the late Floyd Joseph Reaume on March 1, 1958 at Franklin Street Church of God in Monroe. From this union would come the birth of seven children. In her earlier years, Ava was employed as a Nursing Aid at Monroe Hospital and Beaches Nursing Home and spent many years as the Activity Director for Golden Haven Nursing Home in Toledo Ohio. She then decided to retire early to spend more time with her family. She enjoyed hosting and preparing meals for family gatherings, singing , traveling to the Amish country, collecting teddy bears and finding unique treasures at garage sales. Her passion lay in teaching Sunday School and Children's Church for many years. Even today, many will tell you that they came to know the Lord as children through her teaching and nurturing way of leading Sunday School. Her beautiful smile, soft voice and her thoughtful and artistic expressions of her Love will be greatly missed.
