Obituary of James McCormick

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James McCormick was born into this world in Detroit, Michigan on December 21, 1934. Jim was the son of the late John McCormick and the late Anna Wilson. Jim served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army for three years. He married the love of his life the former Mary Newby on December 21, 1975 in Monroe, Michigan. He was a member of the Solid Rock Apostolic Church in Flat Rock. He had been a former member of the Monroe Apostolic Church where he served as an assistant pastor. He enjoyed fishing and his favorite place to cast a line was in Tecumseh on the river. Jim cherished the time that he was able to spend with children. He liked to fly kites, visit Cedar Point, and go for wagon rides. He had a very special place in his heart for his grandchildren, and was also very fond of his nieces and nephews. Jim was a self-employed painter for most of his life, but he enjoyed painting more than just for an occupation. He put his skill to work at his home, remodeling and redecorating and re-wallpapering often. You could say that he like to keep a fresh look. He also enjoyed sprucing up the outside of his home, and was proud of his self completed landscaping projects. James "Jim" McCormick age 75 of Monroe was born into eternal life after a brief illness on Monday, December 21, 2009. He had been a patient at Mercy Memorial Hospital. He is survived by a loving wife of thirty-four years: Mary of Monroe; a son: Danny McCormick of Toledo, Ohio, a daughter: Patricia, and a son Ricky; three grandchildren: Kaylan, Andre, and Roman; and a brother: Jack McCormick. Friends may gather from 5:00pm until 8:00pm, Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will take place at 10:00am, Thursday, December 24, 2009 also at Merkle's with the Rev. Gary Cooke pastor of Solid Rock Apostolic Church officiating. Procession will follow to Woodland Cemetery for his final resting place. For those who desire to make memorial donations; the McCormick Family is suggested.
