Obituary of Marilyn Kay Masserant

Please share a memory of Marilyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marilyn Kay Johnson was born on July 4, 1961 in Monroe, Michigan. She was one of four children born from the union of Raymond and Doris (Vagt) Johnson. Marilyn was a 1979 graduate of Monroe High School where she lent her beautiful voice to the high school choir. For twenty years, Marilyn was employed in banking. She began her career as a switchboard operator for First National Bank where she would meet her future husband. After fifteen years, she would move on to Monroe Bank and Trust serving in their trust department for an additional five years. Marilyn married her best friend and soulmate, Brian Masserant on October 10, 1998 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. From this union the couple would share in the birth of two beautiful daughters. Brian would provide financially for his family as Marilyn took care of the needs at home. She was a tremendous cook, loved to decorate her home, and tend to her flower garden. Marilyn was outgoing and compassionate with an overwhelmingly positive outlook on life no matter what earthly struggles she faced. Her attitude was often an inspiration to others. Marilyn was a frequent volunteer at St. Charles School. Marilyn Kay Masserant, age 55, of Newport passed away under the care of Heartland Hospice on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. In addition to her grandparents, her passing was preceded by her father.
