Richard C. Wain, age 59, of Monroe, Michigan passed away peacefully at 2:36pm on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, under the care of their hospice.
Richard was born August 2, 1952, in Toledo, Ohio the son of Shirley (Rehberg) Wain and the late Richard L. Wain. Richard attended Dundee schools and graduated in 1970. While in school he was active in the marching band as a drum major, and he also played the saxophone.
He married the former Sheri Cain and later married the former Deborah Bordine. Currently, Richard was committed to his long-time companion, Michelle Buterakos.
He was a 41year member of Plumbers and Pipefitters, Local 671. Richard enjoyed building and remodeling and was a "jack-of-all-trades". He also was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed tinkering with model airplanes and cars, fishing, boating, and hunting. Richard enjoyed traveling "Up North" and especially spending time at the family cabin in Mio, Michigan.
To cherish his memory Richard leaves four loving daughters: Erin (Shane) Foster of Monroe, Danielle (Erik) Venzke of Monroe, Andrea Wain of Dundee, and Cassandra Wain of Monroe; four beloved grandchildren: Savannah, Connor, Bobbi, and Brody; his mother: Shirley Wain of Maybee, three brothers: Gary Wain, Terry (Nancy) Wain, and Don (Lisa) Wain, and his niece and nephew: Teddy and Stacy Wain.
Richard was preceded in death by his father: Richard L. Wain, paternal grandparents: Arthur and Ina Wain; maternal grandparents: Alton and Treva Rehberg; a daughter: Heather Wain, and a nephew: Matthew Wain.
Family will receive friends Friday, October 21, 2011, from 12:00pm until 8:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will take place on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 11:00am also at Merkle's. The Rev. Roy Southerland pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle. Cremation will follow and his final rest will take place at the Autumn Rain feature at Roselawn.
