Obituary of Alfred Gay

Alfred Glen Gay age 83 of Erie, Michigan, passed away at home on Tuesday morning October 18. 2011. Al was the son of Urban Lesley Gay and Gracie May Gay. Alfred served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1992 as a mailer from the Toledo Blade after 30-years of service. Al was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed playing golf and was always up for a good poker game. He is survived by his daughters Jennifer Gay; Ruth Attell; Mary Gallardo; Lisa Rogers; Rhoda Mason; Rheda Seagraves; his son, Bob Rogers; 17 adoring grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Al was preceded in death, by his beloved wife, Wanda. Family and friends may visit Merkle Funeral Service, 9156 Summit Street in Erie, Michigan, on Thursday, October 20th, 2011 from 4pm until 8pm. A Celebration of His Life will take place on Friday, October 21st at 11:00am also at Merkle Funeral Service. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial. Those wishing to give memorials, in lieu of flowers are asked to consider the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
