Obituary of Nelson Raymond Perks

Nelson Raymond Perks was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 28, 1955. He was born with cerebral palsy, but it never seemed to hold him back from loving and being loved by so many. Nelson loved people, he was a friendly companion to many. He had a spirited personality and always seemed to be quite the comedian. Nelson enjoyed spending time with his beloved canine companion Brewster. Nelson Raymond Perks, age 61, of Newport passed away at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital on Sunday, July 31, 2016. Along with his parents, Nelson is preceded in death by his canine companion Brewster. To cherish his memory, Nelson leaves; his guardians; brother and sister-in-law Anthony and Julie Haefler of Newport, three brothers; a sister: nephews: Justin Haefler of Hong Kong, Travis (Katrina) Haefler of Indiana, John Haefler of Monroe, Christopher Haefler of Monroe, Josh Haefler of Newport, many great nieces and nephews; and a close friend: Alysa Haefler. Friends may gather on Friday. August 5, 2016 at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe 2442 North Monroe Street (734)384-5185 from 10:00am until 11:00am. A celebration of his life will follow at 11:00am with Pastor Charlie Pipkin, youth leader of the Salvation Army, officiating.
