My grandpa was my best friend he taught me so many life lessons in the short time i had with him. grandpa taught me everything from the three "s's" of a sailor to "you shake hands with a man not kiss them." Grandpa always bought his free Press and everytime i went to his house he always had a special sports section or a picture from the papaer for me. Grandpa told me all his stories of his football palying or navy days, and some how these stories had lessons behind them.Grandpa also got me started on collecting hats , and now my hat collection is just a big as his.Grandpa always told me i want you to get good grades and keep playing football. I always tried to make him proud and i know now i made him prouder then anything.I love you grandpa and i will miss you my best friend

You and I loved our song, "Wind beneath my wings",. We danced to this at my wedding and you eat it up. As we danced to this song at the wedding, you gently whispered in my ear, "Your leading, that's my job not yours". Oh, how true. You are and always where are leader. I learned to do car repairs, because you wanted me safe. And you believed I could do anything the boy's could do. Thank you the screwdriver trick that saved me many times. You believed in me more than I believed in myself. I love you and I will keep trying harder. XO, Shelly, AKA..BABE

So many family memories have been made. Loved our second DAD and was always grateful to be a part of the Mitchell's lives. Although being in the water with Uncle Jimmy was not one of my favorite things(HE liked to be a darn fish under water and pull me under) I did not ever learn how to swim. Thanks for always making sure I never forgot when I wet all over you. I was just preparing you for the 3 kids you had. We all will miss you and cherish the memories. You are a great husband, father, brother-in-law, and most of all to me a UNCLE!!!!!!!!! All our love to the Mitchell Family.

It is an understatement to say that I will miss my dad, but I have great memories which are priceless. He was always there for me. You could count on that. I hope people can see his impact on my life in me. Memories...from him being involve with boy scouts with me (most people don't know this, but he himself made "Life Rank" as a scout)to taking me pheasant hunting with Gomer. My dad always had time for me. ALWAYS! I will miss the great times we had deer hunting. Open mornings....dad sitting in the front passenger side of the front seat, trying to pour coffee from a thermos while the truck bounced down an old dirt road in Hillman. Most of the coffee made it to the truck seat. At home, I can't look anywhere without seeing him. All those projects we worked on together. You didn't have to ask him to help, he would just show up. That self giving is a great attribute, one that I hope I can immulate. Dad, you will always be missed, never forgotten, always be a part of me. Love Mike

Dad liked - wait "Loved" to hunt. My brother and I have so many good stories about deer hunting with dad. It was always good to have dad with us on opening day and it never mattered how bad the weather was he would tell us that we will probably see a deer. In fact, I think my dad liked it when the weather was in the worst possible condition - it challanged him and "My Brother and I :(" to work harder at "bagging" that elusive white tale deer. Dad taught us that "Hard Work" and "Once You Start a Job - Finish It" was his model. Wether it was crawling through a swamp in a snow storm chasing a deer or taking care of your family and being responsible, follow his model - "It's a Good One." My dad followed his model of life to end and he was a fighter. We should all be proud to have known my dad.
