Joshua Drew Maurer was born in Monroe, Michigan on August 22, 1983. He was the son of Bernard Maurer III and Shelly (Hess) Aldridge. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church where he attended their grade school. Drew attended Monroe High School before obtaining his GED from Orchard Center High School.
He loved the outdoors and spending time with his daughter: Natalie. Together they enjoyed walking the dog, going to the park, and swinging. Drew loved to play basketball and also enjoyed video games. He liked his music loud and rap was his music of choice. Drew was also well known for his love of cold cereal usually and his appreciation for a good night's rest. For several years Drew worked as a Plumber's Apprentice with his stepfather Lamar in Alabama.
Joshua "Drew" Maurer age 27 of Monroe passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, July 29, 2011.
His memory will forever be cherished by a daughter: Natalie Maurer of Monroe; his father: Bernie and stepmother: Karla Maurer of Monroe; his mother: Shelly and stepfather: Lamar Aldridge of Alabama; his maternal grandfather: George and special maternal grandmother: Sally Hess of Monroe; paternal grandparents: Bernie and Tina Maurer Jr. of Monroe; paternal grandmother: Sue Maurer of Monroe; five siblings: B.J. (Lisa) Maurer of Alabama, Mandi Maurer of Monroe, Jacob Maurer of Monroe, Chloe Maurer of Monroe, and Chance Aldridge of Alabama; six nieces and nephews: Jordan, McKenzie, Madison, and Morgan Maurer, and Kaleb and Kaden Canupp; also several aunts and uncles, many cousins, and step grandparents.
Friends may gather from 12:00pm until 8:00pm, Monday, August 1, 2011 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. He will lie-in-state from 12:00pm until a funeral service at 1:00pm, Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 323 Scott Street. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial.
