Obituary of Sandra Braden

Sandra D.A. Braden, age 62, went to be with her Lord at 3:12pm, Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Mercy Memorial Hospital, Monroe. Her loving family was at her side. She was under the care of Heartland Hospice and Homecare.
She was born November 2, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of the late Samuel Eldridge Cardwell and the late Bessie Lena (Stout) Cardwell. She graduated from Cody High School, Detroit and attended some clerical courses in college. She married Robert Herman Moore in 1965. In 1968 the family moved from Detroit to the Flat Rock area, and then in 1970 moved to Monroe. Robert went to be with the Lord on January 15, 1975.
For several years, Sandra worked as a cook for William's Lunch on North Monroe Street. On March 1, 1980 she married Daris Henry Braden in Grape, Michigan. Since Daris played the guitar and Sandra enjoyed singing they traveled to area churches sharing the gospel through song.
She was a devoted member of the Salvation Army Church in Monroe where she was a member of the Home League. She enjoyed reading novels; especially romance. She listed her favorite book and movie as "Gone With The Wind". Sandra loved her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory: a husband of more than twenty-eight years: Daris Braden of Monroe; three children: Julie (Tony) Haefler of Temperance, Michael Braden, and Marsha Braden both of Monroe; a sister: Margaret Cole of East Tawas; a brother: Frank (Yvonne) Cardwell of Ephrata, Washington; grandchildren: John (Alysa) Haefler, Christopher (fiancé Alayna Newton) Haefler both of Monroe, Josh Haefler of Temperance; great grandchildren: Alexa Haefler, Tana Jarvis, and Adryanna Haefler all of Monroe. Her passing was preceded by her parents; husband Robert; brother: Dan Cardwell, and sister: Marvarine Cardwell.
Family and Friends will gather Tuesday; July 15, 2008 from 1-8pm at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, Frenchtown Township, (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will take place at 11:00am Wednesday; July 16, 2008, also at Merkle Funeral Service. Major Mike Thomas and Major Mary Thomas of the Salvation Army in Monroe will co-officiate. Burial will follow in Roseland Park Cemetery, Berkley.
