Thomas Martin Hunter was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 16, 1950. He was one of four children, the son born from the union of Thomas R. Hunter and Jean Ann (Schroder) Hunter.
Thomas served his country honorably from 1969 through 1971 in the United States Army earning a National Defense Service Metal. On May 16, 1981 he married the former Connie Monk at Erie United Methodist Church where he was a very active member.
Thomas made his career with the United States Postal Service as a rural carrier, however, he did take time when necessary to be a stay-at-home Dad. Aside from his love for his family, Thomas had a passion for golf and riding his Harley with the American Legion Riders. He loved doing Suduku puzzles and was a real sports nut. He was a great dad, loving grandfather, and also had a warm relationship with the neighborhood kids.
Thomas Martin Hunter, age 61, of Luna Pier passed away at 11:30 am on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at his home. His passing, in addition to parents, was preceded by a brother: John.
His memory will forever be cherished by his wife of 30 years: Connie; two daughters: Jennifer (Martin) DeArmond of Blissfield and Katherine Hunter of Toledo; a son: Thomas Hunter of Luna Pier; a brother: Robert (Cynthia) Hunter of New Mexico; a sister: Barbara Thomas of Philadelphia and 3 grandchildren: Drake, Wyatt and Emmit.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 7:00pm, Tuesday, June 28 at Merkle Funeral Service, 9156 Summit Street in Erie, Michigan (734) 848-5185. A Celebration of His Life will be held at 7:00pm Tuesday, June 28 with Pastor Kenny Spain officiating.
