Robert O. Wright was born in Rudolph, Ohio on February 17, 1933. He was the son of the late Clinton Wright and the late Ida (Steel) Wright. Before birth Clinton passed away and Robert was raised by his late stepfather: Charles Miller. Robert left high school early and joined the United States Army. He served his country honorably as a member of the 101st Airborne Division and later finished his diploma.
Robert was a "Jack of all Trades". He worked for several employers including Daybrooks of Bowling Green and Great Lakes Water Blasting.
He shared more than fifty-one years of life with Maryann Donbrosky.
Bob was extremely proud of his military service, and he was very active with his VFW posts. He was a member of Petersburg, Lewiston, and finally Newport where he held several officer positions including Senior Vice-Commander. For ten years Bob and Maryann made their home in Lewiston where he loved long country road drives. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Robert Wright age 78 of Monroe passed away at 5:11pm, Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Mercy Memorial Hospital. In addition to his parents and stepfather his passing was preceded by a son: Robert W. Wright; three brothers: Harold, Chester, and Lester Wright; and a stepbrother: Charles Miller Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory a wife: Maryann of Monroe; fours sons: Clinton Wright of Apple Valley, MN, Daniel Kinney (Wright) of Monroe, James Kinney (Wright) of Somerset, KY, and Mark Kinney (Wright) of Monroe; two daughters: Pam (Mark) Monroe of Monroe, Robin (Michael) Szuma of Monroe; three step daughters: Joyce (Michael) Miranda of Somerset, KY, Sandi (Rev. Kenneth) Spain of Monroe, Vicky (Rick) Hughes of Ida; one sister: Velma Green of Fostoria, Ohio; and one step sister: Donna Whittenburg of Findlay, Ohio; twenty-three grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren.
Friends are invited to the Newport VFW Post 3943 at 5144 North Dixie Highway from 10:00am until 11:00am on Saturday, March 26, 2011. A memorial service will follow at 11:00am with military honors presented under the direction of the Monroe VFW Post 1138 ritual team. A luncheon will follow and all are invited to attend. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 was entrusted with his arrangements.
