Obituary of John Raniszewski

John A. Raniszewski December 5, 1951 - April 1, 2008 John Raniszewski, age 56, of Newport, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning April the First. His wife and son whom had cared for him were by his side. John was born December 5, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan from the union of the late Roman and the late Stella (Gladkowski) Raniszewski. John graduated from St. Hedwig's High School and attended several courses at Ferris State University. John was an excellent bowler and frequented the Thunder Bowl in Taylor and Roosevelt Lanes in Allen Park. For many years John umpired men's softball. He also was an excellent pitcher. At Softball City he met his wife Kris. John and the former Kris Basso were married on April 19, 1991 in Berkley, Michigan. Together they shared nearly seventeen years of marriage. He also loved to fish and collect baseball cards. John enjoyed spending time and including his family in all his activities. For twenty-two years John was employed as a union Security Guard for Guardian Bonded. From 1999 until 2007 he worked for Avis. In addition to his devoted wife: Kris, John leaves to cherish his memory a son: John Jr. of Newport; two sisters: Catherine and Dorothy; and two beloved dogs: Ayla and Dakota. Friends may gather from 2:00-8:00pm Friday, April 4, 2008 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street, Frenchtown Township, (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of his Life will be take place on Saturday at 1:00pm. Cremation will follow through Southern Michigan Services, Livonia. For those desiring the family has suggested memorial donations be made to the Wishes of the Family or to the American Cancer Society.
