Lori Ann Higgs was born in Monroe, Michigan on September 10, 1972. She was one of three daughters born from the union of Lawrence Higgs and the late Cristine (Friar) Higgs. She attended high school at Ida and Airport.
Lori had been married to Richard Engle. She was engaged to be married to Kraig Sheldon. Lori was a loving mother. She enjoyed the responsibility of being a homemaker to her two children. Lori was a family person and enjoyed spending time with her relatives, and several lifelong friends with whom she was blessed. She was an excellent caretaker and had had the awesome honor of caring for her mother during her final illness.
Lori had been attending the North Monroe Street Church of God, Mountain Assembly.
She loved crafts and making jewelry was a favorite pastime. She had a soft spot in her heart for animals, even strays. Lori also liked to play games and skipbo and backgammon were two of her favorites.
Lori Ann Engle age 38 of Monroe passed away at 10:58am, Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Mercy Memorial Hospital. Her passing was preceded by a son: Wyatt Sheldon, a maternal grandfather: Ray Friar; and her mother: Diane (Higgs) Washington
She leaves to cherish her memory her fiancé: Kraig Sheldon of Monroe; her father: Lawrence Higgs of Mason; her stepfather: Martin Washington of Carleton; two children: Mystique Engle and Kraig Sheldon Jr. both of Monroe; her maternal grandmother: Rose Friar of Monroe; two sisters: Becky (Tim) McCart of Newport and Michelle Higgs (and her partner Kelly Tyler) of Newport; two nieces: Melissa Tyler and Erica Merchant; and two nephews: Joshua Rothman and Alexander Taylor.
Friends may gather from 5:30pm until 7:00pm, Monday, December 6, 2010 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will follow at 7:00pm with the Reverend Rick Massingill pastor of the North Monroe Street Church of God officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Engle/Sheldon Family to assist with funeral expenses.
