William Douglas Ohr
November 11, 1921 - November 4, 2010
William Douglas Ohr was born in Clovis, New Mexico on November 11, 1921. He was born from the union of the late Fred L. and Anna (Brownell) Ohr. He was also preceded in death by his twin sister, Beth Kirksey; and a stepson Warren E Mullendore.
William was a World War II veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He married the love of his life, Josephine, on October 4, 1975. William was a member of the IBEW Local 8 and worked as an electrician for forty years. He retired in 1983.
Known to his family as "Pappy", he enjoyed woodworking and carpentry. He adored the grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church and belonged to the C.U.M.C. Men's Group there. He was also a former president of FOE #2154 and a member of the VFW of Monroe.
William Douglas Ohr, age 88, passed away on November 4, 2010 at Mercy Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
He leaves to cherish his memory a beloved wife: Josephine of Monroe; three stepsons: Frederick W. (Phyllis) Mullendore of Monroe, Stanley M. (Kathy) Mullendore of Lincoln Park, and David L. (Barbara) Mullendore also of Monroe; a sister: Ethel Rose of Sweethome, Oregon; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
Friends may gather from 1:30 pm until 8:00pm, Monday, November 8, 2010 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 where a Celebration of His Life will take place at 11:00am, Tuesday, November 9, 2010. Reverend William T. Kreichbaum of Calvary United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be at Portales Cemetery in Portales, New Mexico.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to Mercy Memorial Hospice.
