Linda Sue Gillum
December 27, 1957 - September 12, 2010
Linda Sue Johnson was born in Montgomery, West Virginia on December 27, 1957. She was the daughter of Loris (Hess) Johnson Nidiffer. She attended Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte.
Linda married Douglas Gillum on January 15, 1983 at the Woodhaven Free Will Baptist Church. She became a homemaker and proudly raised the couple's three children.
Later in life Linda continued her education. She earned her GED through Monroe Public Schools, and then completed an accelerated course in Phlebotomy and Medical Billing.
Linda was extremely passionate about her Christian faith. She enjoyed attending her weekly Bible study group, and loved singing. She was a member of Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church in Newport and had formerly attended the Woodhaven Free Will Baptist. Linda enjoyed spending time with her family and she especially liked hosting get-together s. Whether it was New Years Eve or a backyard bon fire, guests could rest assured about having a great time when Linda was in charge.
Linda Sue Gillum age 52 of LaSalle, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at her home under the care of her beloved family and Heartland Hospice. In addition to her parents and husband: Douglas in October of 2001 her passing was preceded by a siblings: Tom, Paul, and Mary Johnson.
Her memory will be cherished by three children: Jami (Rich) Earl of Maybee, Doug Gillum II of LaSalle, and Amanda Gillum of LaSalle; two sisters: Sandy Nidiffer of LaSalle and Patricia (Doug) Hall of Brownstown; five brothers: Dan (Lena) Johnson of Riverview, Robert (Joyce) Johnson of Fallon, NV, Larry Johnson of Fallon, Bill Johnson of Sacramento, CA, and David Johnson of Riverview; a grandson: Jayden Gillum of LaSalle; friends: Scarlett (Tim) Mott and Sherri (Wally) Zub; and her beloved church family.
Friends may gather from 1:00pm until 8:00pm on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. She will lie in state from 12:00pm until a Celebration of Her Life at 1:00pm, Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Lakeside Missionary Baptist Church, 8278 North Dixie Highway the Rev. Dan Johnson her brother and pastor of Living Water Free Will Baptist Church in Wyandotte will officiate. Burial will follow on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the Bethlehem Cemetery in French Creek, West Virginia.
