Obituary of Dennis Yuergens

Dennis Raymond Yuergens October 8, 1940 - September 2, 2010 Dennis Raymond Yuergens was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 8, 1940. Dennis was one of seven children born from the union of the late Raymond Yuergens and the late Louise (Keller) Yuergens. He honorably served as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He married the former Viola Thibedau. For more than forty years, Dennis worked as a truck driver. He was a member of the Teamsters. He was a member of St. Suzanne's Catholic Church in Detroit, and the American Legion in Dearborn Heights. In 2001 following the death of his wife, Dennis moved to Monroe to be closer to family. He became a member of the Knights of Columbus and Matt Urban American Legion Post 40. He was an avid University of Michigan Football fan. Dennis especially enjoyed visiting the K of C and American Legion. Dennis Raymond Yuergens age 69 of Monroe formerly of Detroit passed away at 7:49am, Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Mercy Memorial Hospital. His passing was preceded by his parents, his spouse: Viola on September 18, 2000, one brother, and one sister. He leaves to cherish his memory two sons: Raymond (Loretta) Yuergens of Monroe and Kurt (Shantell) Yuergens of Belleville; two sisters: Kay (Mack) McKenzie of Westland and Theresa (Rocko) Garfollo of Roseville; two brothers: Tim (Jan) Yuergens of Standish and Dick (Shirley) Yuergens of Traverse City; and five grandchildren: Aaron Yuergens of Melbourne, Florida, Andrew Reed of Monroe, Melissa Yuergens of Melbourne, Brittney Hunter of Belleville, and Alex Reed of Monroe. Friends may gather for a graveside service at 2:30pm on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Dennis and his beloved wife Viola will be laid to rest together. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 has been entrusted with their arrangements. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Fountain View of Monroe for the care that they extended to Dennis throughout his final illness.
