Obituary of Effie Ziegler

Effie Ann Ziegler March 30, 1920 - January 19, 2008, Effie Ann Ziegler, age 87, died peacefully, Saturday, January 19, 2008 at the Medilodge of Monroe. She had been in declining health for several months. She was born March 30, 1920 in Wellston, Ohio the daughter of Frank and Jessie (Montgomery) Ireland. Sadly, Effie was preceded in death by two husbands, Adrian Burt whom she married in 1938, and Herman Ziegler whom she married in 1966. Effie had worked at Woodbury's Bar for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, reading books, and gardening. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and had a true love for animals, including beloved companions Pepper and Prince, and most recently a cat, Tiger. Effie donated food, money, and supplies regularly to the Human Society of Monroe. Her friends warmly recall he reference to anyone she passed as "Baby". She is survived by two nephews: John and Patty Ireland of Novato, California and Howard and Donna Ireland of West Lafayette, Ohio; her close friends: Rosemary and Rodger McCreary of LaSalle; as well as other neighbors who often looked in on her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands: Adrian in 1964 and Herman in 1970, and several brothers and sisters. Friends may gather from 11:00am until funeral services at 2:00pm, Monday, January 21, 2008 at the Merkle Funeral Home. The Pastor Randy Hartman, Senior Pastor, of the Monroe Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Procession and burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
