Obituary of Samuel Moser

Samuel Lee Moser December 22, 1952 - January 5, 2008 Samuel Lee Moser, age 55, of Keystone Heights, Florida formerly of Monroe died unexpectedly Saturday morning January 5th, 2008 in Monroe. Samuel was born on December 22, 1952 in St. Augustine, Florida the son of Samuel Earl Gordon and Mary Jones. Samuel graduated from Palatka High School, Palatka, Florida, and then served in the United States Air Force from December of 1972 until August of 1983 where he obtained the rank of E-4. While serving in the Air Force Samuel worked as a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Technician. He obtained the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Air Force Longevity Service Medal. On November 23, 1974 he married Donna "Dee" Klatt in Monroe. Following his leaving the military Samuel took employment with the United State Postal Service in West Palm Beach, Florida as a clerk. In 1990, he took a medical disability. Samuel enjoyed hunting, especially deer. He also enjoyed fixing and repairing old cars. He was an avid Dale Earnhart and NASCAR fan. He is survived by his wife: "Dee" of Monroe; a daughter: Nikki Klatt of Monroe, his mother and stepfather: Mary and William Smith of Zephyr Hills, Florida; a stepfather who adopted him: Dale Moser of Tampa, Florida; a half brother: Gil Gordon and a step brother: Terri Baughman both of Palatka, FL; a mother-in-law: Jeanette Klatt of Monroe; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws and friends. He was preceded in death by his father: Samuel; and two beloved sons: Samuel and Steven Moser. Cremation has taken place. Friends may gather from 4-8pm, Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at the Merkle Funeral Home, 2442 North Monroe Street, Frenchtown Township. Members of the Monroe Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1138 will perform military honors at 6pm at the funeral home. Friends may also gather from 12:00pm until funeral services at 1:00pm, Thursday at the Petersburg Lower Light Church, 302 East Elm Avenue, Petersburg. Rev. David Voss of the Petersburg Lower Light Church and General Superintendent, David Linville, of the Lower Light Ministries will co-officiate. His cremains will be interred at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at a later date. For those desiring memorial contributions are suggested to the Shriner's Hospital.
