Craig Matthew Weinstein was born in Monroe, Michigan on October 12, 1978. He was the son of Harold Weinstein Jr. and Sharon (Massie) Weinstein. He was a 1996 graduate of Jefferson High School.
He married the former Alicia Figueroa on September 12, 2008 in Waterford, Michigan.
Craig was a free spirit. He was a warm and kind hearted individual with a great sense of humor. Craig was the ultimate joker or prankster in every crowd. He was always fun to be around.
Craig volunteered as an advocate for young adults helping them obtain their GED and staying off of drugs. He was a very talented artist and he enjoyed drawing pop art and graffiti he was especially talented with words and he liked to write poems and music. Family was always very important to Craig.
Craig Matthew Weinstein age 33 of Newport passed away unexpectedly at Henry Ford Hospital on Monday, February 13, 2012. His passing was preceded by his paternal grandmother: Theresa Weinstein, two cousins: Melissa (Sonoras) Lawson in 2008 and Richard Walls in 2011; an uncle: Raymond Walls in 2010; and an aunt: Vivian Yount in 2008.
To cherish his memory he leaves a wife Alicia of Newport; his parents: Sharon Weinstein and Danny Carr of Newport and Harold Weinstein Jr. and Connie Trivette of Manitou Beach, MI; two children: Tailer and Trever Weinstein of Arkansas; maternal grandparents: Gomer and Patricia Massie of Summerfield, Florida and Joanne Thompson of Flat Rock; paternal grandfather: Harold Weinstein Sr. of Brooklyn; one sister: Holly; one brother: Eric both of Newport; two nieces: Amaya and Jada Sanchez; one nephew: Xavier Sanchez; his mother-in-law: Loretta Figueroa of Lake Orion; and numerous uncles and aunts including godmother: Cindy (John) Sonoras of Newport.
Friends may gather from 2:00-8:00pm, Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185 where a Celebration of His Life will take place at 10:00am, Friday, February 17, 2012. Reverend Roy Southerland pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Procession will follow to Michigan Memorial Park for burial.
