Lillian "Jean" Keck
January 27, 1935 - May 24, 2010
Lillian Jean McDaniel was born in Claiborne County, Tennessee on January 27, 1935. She was one of ten children born to the union of the late Estel Clyde McDaniel and the late Bobbie (Love) McDaniel. Jean married the love of her life Eugene Keck on November 26, 1955 in Tazewell, Tennessee.
Jean loved the Gospel and was a devoted Christian. She received her spiritual nourishment as a member of the Monroe Missionary Baptist Church. Jean enjoyed sharing her faith with others and loved to take her grandchildren to worship. She also participated with the Joy Choir, and had been on a mission trip to Africa. Her generous heart led her to want to give her personal possessions to the natives, but her sister drew the line when Jean tried to give up her shoes.
Jean was an excellent mother and a great cook. Roger often said that she was the best mother ever. Jean would do anything for her family. Jean had many special recipes, and although her friends at the Joy Choir demanded her chocolate pie her family fought for her red velvet cake. Jean was also an avid shopper and occasionally would shop till she dropped.
For more than nineteen years, Jean was employed by Mercy Memorial Hospital as a housekeeper.
