Della Dorothy Beason
July 18, 1930 - May 18, 2010
Della Dorothy Johnson was born in Monroe, Michigan on July 18, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Jarvis Johnson and the late Ida Kizzie (Monholland) Johnson.
She was an excellent student while attending Monroe Schools and graduating in 1948 from Monroe High School.
Della married JD Beason on September 24, 1948 in Monroe. Together they would share the joys of two sons and more than sixty-one years of marriage. Della worked for the Michigan Bell Telephone Company as an Operator from 1952-1960. Della loved her family and especially her grandchildren. Della was a loving and devoted wife and mother; always calm and collected. She would often say, "I'm so tickled to see you", when the grandchildren visited.
She enjoyed bowling, card playing, and reading: her favorite interests were American History and Geography. She was a past member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Della and JD made the most of their time together traveling all fifty states and participating with several senior cruises. She also was a supporter of the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts.
Della Dorothy Beason age 79 a lifelong Monroe resident passed away at 9:17pm, Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Mercy Memorial Hospital. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by a son: Vernon Bruce Beason in 1994; a grandson: Brett Beason; a great grandson: Dylan Beason; a brother: Amos Johnson; and three sisters: Opal Courts, and Gladys and Joann Johnson.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her husband: JD of Monroe; a son: Kenny (Kathy) Beason of Estral Beach; a former daughter-in-law: Donna Beason of New Boston; a sister: June Crabtree of Three Rivers, Michigan; her three grandchildren: Danny (Erin) Beason of New Boston, Lori Beason (Andy Slovik) of Belleville, and Becky Beason of New Boston; and her great grandchildren: Brynn and Lucas Beason, Cora and Mason Slovik, and Kayleigh Beason.
Friends may gather from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 2:00pm also at Merkle's with the Rev. Roy Southerland pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial.
