Barbara Ann Basinger
January 2, 1957 - May 4, 2010
Barbara Ann Porter was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas on January 2, 1957. She was the second oldest of five daughters born from the union of the late Billy Porter and the late Zella (Hensley) Porter. She was a graduate of Monroe High School.
Barbara married Marvin Wellman and from this union came the birth of Christopher and Susan. Later she married Jack Basinger Jr. and to this union was born Jack Basinger III.
Recently, Barbara had been attending the North Monroe Street Church of God Mountain Assembly. Prior to this she had attended the Monroe Missionary Baptist Church. Barbara enjoyed bingo, and she was an avid walker. She walked through all types of weather; rain, snow, or shine. Barbara was a fun loving person, she was witty, and enjoyed telling jokes.
Barbara Ann Basinger age 53 of Monroe passed away at 6:51am, Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Mercy Memorial Hospital. Through Gift of Life, Michigan, Barbara has given the gift of sight to someone else.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son: Christopher Wellman (Racheal Ellison) of Monroe, a daughter: Suzanne Wellman (Ron Mancos) of Ecorse, and a son: Jack (Tiffany) Basinger III of Monroe; four sisters: Sharon Hertzsch, Debbie Osborn, Billy Jo Boff, Tracy Porter; four grandchildren: Mylee, Devin, Blake, and Lyla.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 7:00pm, Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will take place at 7:00pm with the Rev. Rick Massingill pastor of the church officiating. Cremation will follow through Southern Michigan Services in Livonia, Michigan.
