Ruth Jane Pecuch
May 5, 1925 - April 21, 2010
Ruth Jane Vail was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 5, 1925. Ruth was one of eight children born from the union of the late George Vail and the late Vina (Cozy) Vail. During the war effort she worked to make parachutes at a bomber plant.
She worked on the assembly line for the Fred Sanders Company, a candy manufacturer in Hamtramck, Michigan for many years. She married John Pecuch In October of 1980 in Commerce Township. Soon after their marriage Ruth retired and they enjoyed traveling for many years. Ruth and John would share nearly twenty-one years of marriage together before his passing on August 1, 2001.
Ruth had a love for Jesus. She also had a love of family and looked forward to her visits, and staying in close contact with them. Ruth was a simple woman, although she enjoyed shopping her favorite store was K-Mart, and her favorite foods were grilled cheese and hot dogs. She looked forward to Saturday so that she could get her hair done.
Ruth moved to the Norman Towers facility in November of 2008 to be closer to her family. Until that time Ruth had spent much of her life residing in the White lake, Union Lake, and Commerce Township areas.
Ruth Jane Pecuch, age 84 of Monroe passed away at 5:50pm, Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the Windhaven Eldercare Center in Temperance. She had been under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by two brothers: Max Vail and Raymond Vail, and three sisters: Lucille Fischer, Shirley Vail, and Dorothy Rottenbucher.
To cherish her memory she leaves two sisters: Betty Ascroft of Laingsburg, Michigan and Doris Christensen of Albertville, Alabama; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and friends.
Friends may gather from 10:30am until a Celebration of Her Life at 12:30pm on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. Sister Kate O'Brien Director Chaplain with Mercy Memorial Hospice officiating. Burial will follow at Oakview Cemetery in Royal Oak.
