My sincere condolences to his wife Terry and his family. I knew him since we were young children. He and I were in the same Boy Scout troop together and the first camp out I ever attended he was my tent mate. He was the one that got me to join the Boy Scouts in 1962 and I remain in the organization over 50 years later. He and I spent many, many dozens of days and nights at each others homes when we were young. The first time I ever rode my bicycle any distance alone was to his house when I was nine or ten. It was just a few miles but seemed like a long way back then. When his family's house burned down in the early 1960's he lived with my family for a brief time until his family could regroup. He was later sent to Vietnam and got hurt over there as I recall. I was sent to Korea at about the same time. I have a sister who is blind and it was Arlie that taught her how to tie her shoes when she was very young. It has been over 50 years but she still talks about him and his kindness to her. I remember him as a gentle and very decent and hard working person and as my best friend when we were both very young so long ago. I did not know he was seriously ill until near the end. I wish we could have had one last conversation. Rest in eternal peace Arlie.
